I tend to self insert in these kind of games, but I find it hard to "be" this character. Im uncomfortable playing a trained knight/killer type character. Im not martially or physically minded, in fact quiet the opposite. So this skin is hard for me to wear (it itches metaphorically speaking.) The forced wedding bit is something I can role play with, I'd just sullenly go along with it. But I find that even as a "mute" my character talks and responds too much to others. I dont think anyone really in that sort of position who was honestly unhappy about it, would just carry on casual banter like that. I could see my self responding with only hesitant head nods while keeping my eyes down cast, or looking away in refusal (or 180 degrees opposite and being sarcastic as all get out and generally unpleasant, but Im not that kind of person either.)
Not asking you to do anything about any of this, just sharing my experiences with the game so far. I knew when i first decided to give this a go that it was coming from an angle that I dont usually approach things from. Still Im glad to have read it, as honestly your writing is extremely well done and Im still hoping Ill find a way to get over my (character's) sullen self and find happiness in this unfortunate situation.

The difficulty you encountered as fas as immersion goes might take root in some pre-set traits the MC has. Some of them are due to the environment while growing up (for example MC is very capable in combat because they were intensly physically trained) and some of them are just character traits that are going to be fixed (for example MC's weakness for children and animals). Because of this, if sometimes you will come across some things that might feel strange to you, that's probably because it's one of the main character's fixed traits.
At this point in time MC is also still heavily influenced by their parents' expectations to go along with the marriage as best as they can; again, this is probably why you felt like MC was being too responsive or accepting. There are some choices for someone who just wants to get it over with without too much involvement (ex: choosing to eat alone and to not ask any question to Morien), maybe you'd be more comfortable with them?

Still I chose to play anyways, because well how can I pass on a chance to play an interactive Arthurian Tale lol.
Your story really is well written, and I've enjoyed it for the most part. I simply choose to ignore as best I can all references to my combat abilities / past etc. and focus on the Now part of the game (and i do like some of the characters predefined traits, like enjoying children and animals.) Its not too hard to do, its like playing an otome and ignoring all references to the MC being a girl. The mind can leap through alot of hoops when it wants to.
I've played this through a few times now - really enjoyed the release of the second half of the first chapter and I spent way too much time last night going through your tumblr reading all the info there. Love this so much, can't wait to see where you take it.
This is very good and i'm glad followed for the update but i have a question, for the option of a trans man can you only do binding or hormone treatments and not both? Otherwise this is very good and i'll wait excitedly for chapter 2!
Hi❤ I am so glad you liked the update! As for your question: I am probably going to add the option to do both in the next bugfix. Either that or it will be available in later chapter to choose to also take hormones if your MC binds and viceversa.

This is just my opinion, so I apologize if it upsets anyone but so far this story is just... King Arthur and his knights are very feminine. Having the King, who just won a war, calling people dears, apologizing to servants and braiding peoples hair is a very strange thing to see. So far every character is essentially the same, they're all lovey dovey and super caring. No one seems bothered by the child of their enemy they just defeated in war coming to their castle and marrying their king, everyone seems more content with making MC comfortable and happy
Alas this story is not for me, I can't take it seriously.
It's totally understandable to have preferences and in fact if something is not within your tastes you have every right to find something else that is!
Just to provide a possible explanation, I want to say that this story is not meant to be realistic. It is meant to address some tropes I hold dear to me and to portray character in a way I personally enjoy writing. Hopefully I can provide a different kind of experience than other stories with a similar setting.
In any case, TKH has soft characters that will always be understanding and attentive to MC's comfort, so anyone who keeps reading or is interested in this game should be aware of that.
Short and sweet. I'm hooked by your writing. I was hoping it was longer than half a chapter but it was so worth it. Good luck and please, please, PLEASE write more.

Is from the ashes we rise playable now or will be in the future?, because you are actually the first person to let us be a dragon let alone a shape-shifting one. But I am really enjoying this game so far. Need more like those 2.

While the arranged marriage isn't avoidable, in this setting is very common as a practice, especially for monarchs and nobles, this game will heavily drift away from the more uncomfortable sides of it.
There won't be any expectation of a children or pressures by the court because Arthur has already named his heir. Since MC is gender selectable, it is also taken into consideration that the marriage was never for the purpose of producing an heir.
On the topic of MC, they have the freedom to have a purely platonic relationship with Arthur. Should they choose to pursue other ROs, or no one at all, Arthur will be helpful and supportive either way. Basically, the bond that MC and Arthur have is set and will always be a strong and central point in the story, but not linked to Arthur's romance route!
the amount of customization this game has is amazing. It's only the first half of the first chapter, but man, i am totally floored by this demo! I really loved that there's an option for mc to know sign 😌 can't wait to read more o(╥﹏╥)o
Saw this last night in tumblr, but just recently had the time to try it out! And in all honesty, I love what we got to read right not. ^^ I love how heartwarming the story and characters are despite the story most likely going down the route of the complicated battle in politics. The Arthurian legend is complex on its own, and I'm looking forward to more of this! Good luck on the development, you're doing great. <3
I’ve tried playing, but unfortunately I can only do so on my phone, and switching to the desktop version doesn’t help with the text being cut off. I totally understand it takes time to get everything smooth on all versions! I just figured I’d give the heads up on the desktop view not working, either, on iOS, in case that impacts future coding
Hey so far it seems like a great game but I’m playing on mobile and all of the text is shifted to the left so most words are cut off making it hard to see. I tried to zoom out and it had no effect.
Are you using Chrome and landscape mode? That might be the issue, bc they don't seem to work for itch.io in general. It works for me in firefox on an android. Other than that, I can't think of anything and you'll just have to wait, I'm sorry!
Having my character being mute was an interesting take compared to the other games out there. I also love how the perspective of the story changes from person to person but still choose choices for the character I play. I'll definitely be back for the updates.
I won't lie, I havn't been enchanted by a demo for quite some time like I was with yours. I love the fact that you get to choose 'unnatural' hair and eye colors. I love the fact that I can choose to have my MC speak or not.
The story of King Arthur was one of my favorites growing up so now playing a version of it makes me incredibly happy. Your writing style is easy to read and I think it's why its also so eady to get into the story.
And as noted by RainyNight, seeing the MC through others eyes makes the story greater.
I can't await seeing what will happen next in the story as well as looking forwards to the next update.
PS: Do I get to choose the MC's age at some point? Or is it set and I just overlooked it?

The premise of the story is promising, your writing makes it very easy to instantly get immersed in it.
Especially the perspective of the other characters is very interesting. Seeing my MC through their eyes and getting an idea how they feel about the arrival defently enriches the experience.

Just set your view settings from mobile to browser view, that way you should be able to zoom at will until Kal had time to edit the layout!

I love the option to be mute. I'm not legit mute but have pretty bad selective mutism, so it's nice to functionally represent it in a game :)
I really love the first part of the chapter. It's very easy to read and I love the impact the choices already have. I sincerely can't wait for more.
